Tan Thuan Old Bridge
Ho Chi Minh City
Vietnam
The old Tan Thuan Bridge, built in the 1960s, spanned the Saigon River in Ho Chi Minh City, connecting District 7 to the city center. Its steel truss design and narrow lanes managed heavy traffic, supporting trade and travel in the post-war era. Weathered yet resilient, it operated alongside the new bridge, built in 2000, for a time, sharing the city’s growing transport demands. The old bridge symbolized Ho Chi Minh City’s recovery and growth. Though phased out, it remains a nostalgic icon, evoking memories of creaking crossings and a city transforming into a modern metropolis. Its legacy endures as a testament to the city’s journey.
